Succailure; noun, /səkˈljər/, ‘the achieving of results through failing’

In the fear of failing most people never start! In the possibility of ridicule, they freeze. In the presence of hurdles nobody persists! However, it all has to do with perspective, how one looks at things...

When a reporter asked Thomas Alva Edison how it felt to fail 1,000 times, Edison replied:

“I didn't fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention of 1,000 steps.

Alexander Graham Bell, after patenting his telephone, went on to seek investors in his small company after failing to satisfy demand. Western Union leaders scoffed at him and turned him down. AT&T was born afterwards, and the rest is history.

Colonel Sanders at the age of 66 lost his business and began living on social security. He went around the country trying to sell his recipe for fried chicken. He was turned down 1009 times before someone said yes. Then multibillion-dollar business KFC was born.

I urge you to come back to this whilst in challenging situations. There is a lot to learn from failure and we must all shift our understanding of what failure actually is; a step closer to success.

Embrace your Sprint Reviews and Sprint Retrospectives as an attempt to look back, celebrate wins, but most importantly failures as these are the cases where wisdom gets instilled into how we do our business!

We will win one small succailure at a time!
